Lab Members - Christopher A. Bird
Christopher A. Bird completed his M.S. degree in
Biochemistry/Molecular Biology in Spring 2005 in the Department of
Chemistry and Biochemistry. He worked on two collaborative projects
with Professors Robin Garrell (Chemistry and Biochemistry) and
C.-J. Kim (Mechanical Engineering and Professor Rob Gunsalus
(Microbiology). The title of his thesis is: Microfluidics Mass
Spectrometry Based on an Electrowetting-on-Dielectric (EWOD) Interface
for Functional Proteomics and Surface Layer Protein Labeling of the
Archaea Methanosarcina Acetivorans for Protein Identification.
Chris co-authored a paper published in Analytical Chemistry.
Wheeler AR, Moon H, Bird CA, Ogorzalek Loo RR, Kim CJ, Loo JA, and Garrell RL. Digital Microfluidics with In-line Sample Purification for Proteomics Analyses with MALDI-MS.
Anal Chem 2005; 77: 534-540.
Currently, Chris and his wife and kids reside in England, where Chris is working towards a DPhil in the Department of Pathology, Oxford University in Professor Neil Barclay's Molecular Immunology Group.
