Lab Members - Deborah Leon-Rossell
Deborah Leon-Rossell started her undergraduate career at the University of Havana, Cuba, as a Pharmacy student. At the University of Havana, she researched the antioxidant properties of phycocyanin, a light absorbing pigment from cyanobacteria. She transferred to Missouri State University where she earned her B.S. in Chemistry. She came to UCLA for graduate school in Biochemistry and joined the laboratory of Dr. Loo in the summer of 2005.
In the Loo lab her research focuses on Elucidating and
Characterizing the S-Layer of the Archaeon Methanosarcina
acetivorans
by using in vivo biotinylation
labeling, affinity purification, 1D SDS-PAGE, and near-western
blotting analysis combined with LC-MS/MS.
