Lab Members - Shirley Lomeli
Shirley Lomeli joined our lab in the summer of 2004. Her research interest is characterizing the structure and function of vaults, the largest known ribonucleoprotein structures in eukaryotes. She is currently developing methods to detect protein-protein interactions using various chemical crosslinking techniques analyzed by nano ESI GEMMA, 1D gel electrophoresis, MALDI-TOF MS, LC/MS-MS, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM).
She earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in
Biochemistry from California State University, Los Angeles
(CSULA). She worked as an undergraduate and graduate student
researcher in Dr. R. L. Vellanoweth's laboratory on Identification,
Characterization, and Expression Analysis of Arabidopsis MECP2 Genes
Encoding Methylated DNA Binding Proteins.
