Lab Members - Yongming Xie

Dr. Yongming Xie joined our group in 2003 after he completed his PhD in Chemistry at the University of California-Davis with Professor Carlitto Lebrilla. At UC-Davis, Yongming developed methods for oligosaccharide analysis using high resolution Fourier-transform mass spectrometry. At UCLA, Yongming worked on a wide variety of projects that utilized the LC-QqTOF (QSTAR) mass spectrometer. The projects ranged from the de novo sequencing of ancient lotus proteins, to the measurement of carbohydrate binding to potentially novel anti-HIV theta-defensin peptides. He was instrumental in our efforts to catalogue proteins in saliva – a biofluid with potential for disease diagnostics.
