Dr. Denise P. Tran joined the Loo Lab in July 2018. Before joining this team at UCLA, she received her Bachelor of Health Sciences degree with Honours in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Adelaide. She continued research at this institution and earned her Ph.D. degree under the guidance of Prof. Tara L. Pukala. Her research interests primarily revolve around utilising mass spectrometry (both top down and bottom up) to characterise structural features and binding interfaces of proteins and nucleic acids. However, she enjoys a challenge and therefore has also dabbled in protein nuclear magnetic resonance, circular dichroism, synthesising small molecules from cheap starting materials, taking transmission electron microscopy photos, MTT/THT biological assays and a plethora of other techniques she currently cannot remember at this particular moment in time.
